Aberystwyth Castle
Aberystwyth Castle was once ranked one of the largest castles in Wales at Aberystwyth and no trip would be complete without a visit to this iconic building. Aberystwyth, Flint, Rhuddlan and Builth castles were all built by King Edward 1 in the 13th century in order to control and decide on the Welsh. However Aberystwyth Castle is now a collection of ruins, but it is still a very impressive group of buildings that are well worth a visit.
The rest are made up of interior walls and East, but the exterior wall has now disappeared. Its present state of ruin, in part because it was destroyed in 1649 and its stone was used as material for other buildings. However, there is still much to see and plenty of history left to explore. Inside the castle walls is the bardic circle composed of 13 standing stones in the Eisteddfod 1916. Each stone represents one of the pre-1974 counties of Wales. A beautiful and impressive memorial was erected in 1919 and the panoramic view over the bay of Aberystwyth memory are breathtaking.
There is a large family out that parents can look around the castle while children may be kept occupied the playground, picnic, putting green and crazy golf. You can then take a stroll along the promenade Victorian Castle. In end of the walk is Constitutional Hill where you will find the famous Cliff Railway Electric tucked into the mountains.
Railway electric cliff
A trip to an electric railway to the top of the hill should be the constitutional head of list of things to do while visiting Aberystwyth. It is the railway's longest electric cliff in the United Kingdom and has worked since 1896. The railway has been designed by the Liberal peer George Croydon Marks and was operated through a system of water balance has been changed to electricity in 1921.
The electric railway takes cars Railway in picturesque forest on top of Constitutional Hill to 4 mph. This may seem slow, but you do not want to go faster or you would not be able to enjoy the panoramic view over the sea and surrounding countryside. Children and adults benefit from the rise slow until the Constitutional Hill.
As you approach the top of the hill constitutional if the weather is clear, you can see mountain peaks through 26 the length of Wales. When you reach the top of the hill that has a constitutional point of view the most spectacular natural that I ever seen. Miles and miles of beautiful coastline and unspoilt natural cliff top paths. You can look back down and see Aberystwyth Castle in all its splendor pointing to the sea and on the other side you can look down the beach Clarach Bay.
Clarach Bay
Clarach beach was assigned to Marine Conservation highest award for water quality and is a popular site for fishing. It also has the coveted Green Coast rural beaches. This award aims to recognize the beaches with European Blue Flag Water Quality whose management reflects their rural, unspoilt nature. The criteria aim to ensure that these beaches can get recognition without the need for inappropriate development which damages spoil their natural beauty and the risk to wildlife. Clarach Bay Beach is a pebble beach unspoiled. He is an explorer the wonderful beach for children filled with rock pools, caves to explore and mountain walks. You can take the path of the mountain cliff from the beach and walk miles across the trail to the small coastal village of Borth. On the way there are some of the most beautiful panoramic views of the coastline and is very peaceful march. There are no homes nearby roads or so there is no traffic noise, just the sound of a sheep, birds and sea You can also take the mountain path in the opposite direction and walk up the hill constitutional.
Y Consti Restaurants
In April 2005, the famous Y Consti restaurant open at the top of Constitution Hill. Y Consti restaurant is a replica of the original Tea Room Coffee kiosk and construction was funded by a grant of a European objective. The restaurant has a panoramic view over the sea and cliffs.
Camera Obscura
The Camera Obscura is located next to the restaurant and Consti Y is a reconstruction of a Victorian popular attraction. It was opened in 1985 and is now becoming a major tourist attraction. Camera Obscura is the Latin term for the room veiled. This is an optical device which was used by the Victorians to make detailed plans or, as in this case entertainment. It is a phenomenon of the time Victorian led to the invention of the camera. The light passes through a lens in the roof of the camera obscura which is then projected onto a large white surface in the room. The outdoor stage is perfectly played in color at the back. In the images of the Victorian obscure device have also was projected on paper, which when traced drawings produced very accurate.
Aberystwyth Camera Obscura is the largest in the world and it is possible to see clearly 1000 square miles of sea and coastline with its huge 14-inch lens. Our children took great delight in spying people in Aberystwyth and be able to see what they were doing as clearly as if they were standing beside them. If you're lucky, you will be able to look towards the sea and some dolphins.
There were many other activities for children on Constitution Hill ball games, Frisbee, and a wonderful gift shop. If you're feeling energetic, you can take a walk along the beautiful coastal path down in Clarach Bay. If you do not feel able to go back to Constitutional Hill you can take the bus back to Aberystwyth.
After visiting Y Consti restaurant and the Obscure photo you can take the Electric Railway Aberystwyth Cliff go back to town. You never have to wait very long for a train leaving every few minutes day seven weeks in high season. Even during the winter of electric railway is open five days a week from Wednesday Sunday.
These are just some of many attractions for tourists in Aberystwyth. However, staying in a hotel or a bed & breakfast may be a bit expensive, so my advice would be to stay in one of the many caravan parks on the outskirts of the city. There are two caravan parks just next to the bay Clarach and both are within walking distance of the beach. Glan Y Mor Caravan Park is an excellent site, but if you do not wish to stay in a caravan, you can also rent holiday cottages Clarach Bay Village at a very reasonable price. Both caravans are very well maintained, and cheaper, I think, much better than staying in a hotel you have direct access to award-winning Clarach Bay Beach from your caravan or chalet.
You can walk along the scenic cliff path from the Constitution Hill Clarach Bay Beach and visit the restaurant and Y Consti Camera Obscura, then descend in Aberystwyth Electric Cliff Railway through enjoying the beautiful scenery as you descend down to Aberystwyth Town. There are so many things to see and do in Aberystwyth a visit is never enough. Do you have a favorite tourist attraction in Aberystwyth? If so please leave your comments for others to see
